Umberto Lanaro (1944–2017) was an Italian violin maker born in Bovolone, near Verona, Italy, where he later lived and worked. Known for refined craftsmanship and warm, expressive tonal qualities, he is regarded as one of the notable contemporary makers of the Veronese tradition.

Our collection includes a beautiful viola by Umberto Lanaro. Having had the privilege of knowing Lanaro personally and discussing the art of instrument making with him on many occasions, this instrument carries a particularly meaningful and emotional connection.
